The Denver Nuggets were surprisingly knocked out of the playoffs after losing the series 4-2 to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round. Nikola Jokic’s team failed to live up to expectations and fell 110-98 in Game 6 played in Minneapolis.

Despite Nikola Jokic posting 28 points, 10 assists, and 9 rebounds, Denver struggled with low production from several teammates, especially Jamal Murray, who scored only 12 points on poor shooting. Minnesota answered with a huge performance from Jaden McDaniels, who scored 32 points, and Terrence Shannon Jr., who added 24.

The elimination represents a major disappointment for a Nuggets team that entered the postseason with championship hopes. On the other side, the Timberwolves advance to the Western Conference semifinals, where they will now face the San Antonio Spurs.

Why did Denver lose the series?

Because of offensive inconsistency, little support for Jokic, and Minnesota’s defensive intensity in key moments.

Now the big question arises: do the Nuggets need major changes to compete for another championship?
