Samsung has begun internal testing of its new custom interface, One UI 8, based on Android 16, on two of its best-selling mid-range smartphones: the Galaxy A53 5G and Galaxy A33 5G. The detected firmware versions are A536BXXUGGYG1 and A336BXXUDGYG1, confirming that these models will soon appear on the update schedule.

These tests expand the beta program, which so far had focused on the Galaxy S25 series and the new foldables, Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7. According to earlier reports, One UI 8 was already in development for premium models, but now Samsung is accelerating its rollout to more affordable devices. The company is optimizing the interface for a wider range of smartphones, aiming to have the update ready before fall.

One UI 8 introduces several new features, including enhanced artificial intelligence tools (like Gemini Live and real-time translation), stronger privacy protection with Knox Matrix and post-quantum encryption, and visual improvements to the mobile interface, camera, and native apps. Users of the A53 and A33, both launched in 2022, can expect these upgrades, which significantly extend the useful life of their phones.

When will the updates be available for these models?

While Samsung hasn’t announced official dates yet, it’s expected that the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7, already shipping with One UI 8, will kick off the official rollout in July. The update will then reach the S25 series, followed shortly by the A53 and A33, likely during the northern hemisphere’s winter.

In summary, Samsung is expanding One UI 8 to mid-range phones, allowing millions of users to enjoy better performance, security, and AI tools, without having to buy a new device.
