The renowned automobile brand Jeep, owned by the Stellantis Group, has announced the voluntary recall of more than 320,000 plug-in hybrid vehicles in the United States due to a potential fire risk. According to the official statement, the issue is linked to the high-voltage battery system, which in certain cases could overheat even when the vehicle is turned off.

The affected models include the Jeep Wrangler 4xe and the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe, both from model years 2021 to 2024. Stellantis has advised owners to park their vehicles outdoors and away from enclosed structures until the necessary repairs are completed.

Does this recall represent a setback for consumer confidence in electric and hybrid cars?

Not necessarily, but it does highlight the challenges the automotive industry faces in its transition toward more sustainable technologies. As manufacturers continue to refine electric systems, safety remains the top priority. Stellantis has confirmed that it will carry out all necessary repairs free of charge.

With this announcement, the company aims to prevent major incidents and reaffirm its commitment to safety and responsible innovation.
