Just moments ago, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an alert and ordered the recall of a well-known soup in 14 states after detecting the presence of an undeclared allergen on its label, putting the health of people with food allergies at risk.
The recalled product is Grandma Belle’s Tomato Basil Soup, manufactured by Lil’ Turtles, which was distributed in stores across Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Kentucky, Minnesota, Utah, Oklahoma, Kansas, Mississippi, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin and Iowa. It was determined that the soup contains milk, an allergen that was not listed on the label, which could trigger severe or potentially life-threatening allergic reactions in people sensitive to this ingredient.
Although no illnesses have been reported so far, United States authorities warn that consuming the soup poses a significant risk for individuals with milk allergies or severe intolerances. The FDA recommends immediately discarding any container of the affected product or returning it to the place of purchase for a refund.
