Closer Edwin Díaz has officially agreed to a three year, $69 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers after parting ways with the New York Mets. The move is considered one of the most impactful pitching acquisitions of the offseason, especially for a team that struggled significantly to close games in 2025. Los Angeles posted one of the highest bullpen ERAs in the league, making the need for a dominant reliever urgent.

Díaz arrives after delivering one of the strongest seasons of his career: 28 saves in 31 chances, a 1.63 ERA, and 98 strikeouts across 66 ⅓ innings. His explosive fastball, which consistently touches 98 mph, combined with his devastating slider, makes him one of the most feared closers in baseball.

The Dodgers expect Díaz to bring stability, leadership, and late inning confidence, qualities they desperately lacked last season. His presence not only strengthens the bullpen but also boosts the team’s postseason aspirations.

What does this signing mean for Los Angeles?

It means the Dodgers finally have a reliable, elite closer capable of securing tight games and anchoring a championship caliber pitching staff.
