Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed this Thursday that progress has been made in negotiations toward a ceasefire with Russia following meetings with United States envoys, including Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Zelensky described the talks as “really good,” highlighting new and constructive ideas aimed at narrowing differences and moving closer to lasting peace.

The discussions focused on an updated peace plan that would freeze current battle lines and provide security guarantees for Ukraine. However, the proposal does not yet resolve the status of territories occupied by Moscow and has not received an official response from Russia.

Zelensky emphasized that the coming weeks will be “intense” as diplomatic efforts continue, and he thanked the United States for its support. He also stressed that international pressure on Moscow remains strong, warning that prolonging the war will have serious consequences.

Does this mean the war could end soon?

While the progress is encouraging, there is still no final agreement or confirmation from Russia, meaning peace remains a goal rather than an immediate reality.
