The tragedy that struck Venezuela continues to worsen. Authorities have confirmed that the devastating earthquakes have now claimed 3,342 lives, while 16,740 people have been injured, making it one of the deadliest natural disasters in the country’s recent history.

In addition to the growing human toll, 17,345 people have been left homeless after homes and buildings collapsed or became unsafe. Rescue teams remain on the ground searching through the rubble, while emergency shelters, medical assistance, and humanitarian aid continue to be expanded across the hardest-hit regions.

Venezuela faces its worst crisis: Death toll continues to rise

Why does the death toll keep increasing?

Because search and recovery operations are still underway in collapsed buildings and hard-to-reach areas, where emergency crews continue to locate victims and search for possible survivors.

As Venezuela struggles to recover, authorities continue urging international support to strengthen rescue efforts and provide relief to the thousands of families whose lives have been forever changed by the disaster.
