FC Barcelona is close to completing one of the biggest moves of the transfer window. The Catalan club has reached a preliminary agreement with Manchester City to sign Spanish midfielder Rodri Hernández, according to ESPN.
The deal reportedly includes a payment of approximately €60 million in fixed fees, while additional performance-related clauses could raise the final cost to around €75 million. The player is also expected to sign a four-year contract with Barcelona.
Rodri, 30, arrives after a successful seven-year spell at Manchester City. During that period, he made nearly 300 appearances and won several major trophies, including multiple Premier League titles and the Champions League. He also won the Ballon d’Or in 2024, establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in the world.
His arrival represents a major boost for Barcelona, particularly given Frenkie de Jong’s fitness difficulties and the team’s need for a midfielder capable of controlling the tempo of matches.
How much will Barcelona ultimately pay for Rodri?
The agreement starts at €60 million in fixed fees, but bonuses and additional clauses could take the total transfer cost to approximately €75 million.
