The 37-year-old player announced his decision Wednesday through social media in a video narrated by actor Michael B. Jordan.
Westbrook will be remembered especially for becoming the NBA’s all-time leader in triple-doubles, with 209 in the regular season. He was also selected to nine All-Star Games, won the MVP award in 2017, and was named to the NBA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
His most iconic years came with the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he spent 11 seasons and reached the NBA Finals in 2012 alongside Kevin Durant and James Harden.
