A batch of instant coffee from the brand Clover Valley, sold in Dollar General stores between July 9 and July 21, 2025, was recently recalled after it was confirmed that it could contain glass fragments. Although no injuries have been reported so far, authorities warn of serious risks: consuming glass can cause dental damage, cuts in the mouth or throat, and even intestinal perforation.

The recall was voluntary and coordinated by Dollar General along with the FDA to protect consumers. The withdrawal affects 8-ounce containers identified with the UPC code 876941004069 and lot numbers L-5163, L-5164 (with an expiration date of December 13, 2026) and L-5165 (December 14, 2026).

Do you have this product in your pantry? If so, dispose of it immediately and contact Dollar General to request a refund for the purchase price plus taxes. Customer service is available daily by email or phone.

How serious can this problem be?

Potentially very serious. Even though no cases have been reported, the risk of ingesting glass should never be underestimated. A single small particle could cause internal injuries, making the recall and quick communication crucial to prevent more severe consequences.
