Slugger Pete Alonso has signed a five-year, $155 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles, marking one of the biggest moves of the 2025-26 MLB offseason.

After seven seasons with the New York Mets, where he became the franchise’s all time home run leader with 264 homers, Alonso now arrives in Baltimore with the mission of bringing power and consistency to the team’s offense.

In the 2025 season, he hit .272 with 38 home runs and 126 RBIs, finishing with an .871 OPS, his best performance since entering the league. Thanks to his numbers and versatility, the Orioles expect Alonso to become the centerpiece of their lineup.

What does this signing mean for the Orioles?

It means Baltimore is making a strong push to reinforce its offense with a proven power hitter capable of changing games with one swing. Additionally, Alonso brings consistency and leadership, key elements for the Orioles as they aim to compete at the top of their division in the coming seasons.
