After the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, both the company and the console have received strong support from loyal fans, and now Nintendo has decided to respond with a surprise for players and developers alike. Unreal Engine 5.7 has proven to improve the console’s performance by 33% to 40%, according to recent tests carried out by the team behind Ark: Survival Ascended.
This boost in frame rate is key to delivering smoother experiences in demanding titles, bringing the Switch 2 closer to the goal of stable 30 FPS, especially in ports of large-scale games. Although that target has not yet been fully achieved, developers are exploring additional technologies such as frame generation (Frame Generation) to get even closer to that standard.

Beyond the performance leap, the combination of UE5.7 and the hybrid power of the Switch 2 opens the door to more ambitious ports and improvements that previously seemed unfeasible.
Does this mean games will look as good as on next-generation consoles?
Not entirely. While Unreal Engine 5.7 significantly improves performance, achieving graphics quality or stability identical to PlayStation or Xbox remains a challenge due to the Switch 2’s hardware limitations.
