Recently, The Miami Marlins announced the addition of Dominican outfielder Esteury Ruiz after completing a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, which sent minor league right-hander Adriano Marrero to the California club. Ruiz, known for his elite speed on the bases, adds a new dynamic to Miami’s lineup heading into the 2026 season.
The 26-year-old led the American League with 67 stolen bases in 2023 and, although he had a limited role with Los Angeles last season, appearing in just 19 games mainly as a defensive replacement or pinch runner, his baserunning ability and defensive skills make him a valuable addition for the Marlins.
This move comes shortly after Miami traded Dane Myers to the Cincinnati Reds, creating a need in the outfield and for a right-handed bat. To make room on the 40-man roster, the team designated infielder Eric Wagaman for assignment, reflecting the roster adjustments required by Ruiz’s arrival.
