Manchester United announced this Monday the dismissal of head coach Ruben Amorim, bringing an end to his tenure after 14 months in charge, amid a prolonged period of poor results and internal tension at Old Trafford.
Amorim, who arrived from Sporting CP in November 2024 with the mission of revitalizing the “Red Devils,” was unable to establish consistent performances. Despite significant signings and major financial investment, the team finished last season in a disappointing position and failed to show the expected progress, increasing pressure on the coaching staff.

In an official statement, the club said the decision was made “reluctantly,” but emphasized it was necessary to give the team “the best chance to finish as high as possible in the Premier League.” Meanwhile, Darren Fletcher has been appointed interim manager as the club searches for a permanent replacement.
Why was Amorim dismissed?
Mainly due to poor league results, a lack of tactical improvement, and growing tensions with the club’s leadership, which ultimately limited his ability to implement a successful long-term project.
