Team Japan continues fine-tuning its preparations for the upcoming World Baseball Classic and announced the addition of seven pitchers to its preliminary roster, strengthening one of its greatest assets: pitching. Among the most notable names are Yusei Kikuchi, a starter for the Los Angeles Angels, and Yuki Matsui, a reliever for the San Diego Padres, both with Major League experience.

They are joined by five pitchers from Japan’s domestic league, creating a balanced mix of international talent and local expertise. The goal is clear, to defend the world championship title won in the previous edition and keep Japan among the tournament’s elite.

The coaching staff believes these arms will provide depth and versatility, key factors in a short, high-pressure competition.

Does Japan have the pitching needed to repeat as champion?

With MLB standouts and proven talent from its national league, the team has the tools to compete at the highest level, though consistency against equally strong opponents will be the ultimate challenge.
