The Utah Jazz have made a major move to secure their future by reaching a five-year, $157.5 million contract extension with young guard Keyonte George, according to ESPN.
George, selected 16th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, is coming off his best season since entering the league. The 22-year-old averaged 23.6 points and 6.1 assists per game, setting career highs in both categories while also shooting 37.1% from three-point range.
The agreement keeps George in Utah through the 2031-32 season and makes him an important part of the Jazz’s rebuilding project. He is also expected to form a promising backcourt alongside Darryn Peterson, the No. 2 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
But why was the Utah Jazz willing to invest so heavily in George?
His steady development and breakout 2025-26 campaign convinced the franchise that he could become one of its foundational players.
The deal gives George an average annual value of roughly $31.5 million, marking a significant step in his young NBA career.
