Pokémon fans now have a new must-visit destination in Japan. The Noto Satoyama Airport, located in Ishikawa Prefecture, has announced a complete transformation inspired by the Pokémon universe, officially becoming the first airport themed around the famous franchise.

The terminal will temporarily be renamed “Noto Satoyama Pokémon With You Airport” starting on July 7, 2026, and the special theme will remain in place until September 2029. Major attractions will include giant Pikachu figures, exclusive decorations, murals featuring more than 100 flying-type Pokémon, and areas designed to look like scenes straight out of the popular video games.

In addition to attracting tourists and anime fans, the project is also intended to help boost the economic and tourism recovery of the Noto region after the earthquake that struck the area in 2024. Authorities expect thousands of visitors to travel there every year just to experience the Pokémon-themed airport.

The initiative has generated huge reactions across social media, where many users believe Japan continues to take pop culture and entertainment to another level. Some experts even think projects like this could inspire similar collaborations in other countries in the future.

Why is this Pokémon airport creating such a huge impact in Japan?

Because it combines tourism, entertainment, and nostalgia into a unique experience that transforms a traditional airport into a true themed attraction for millions of Pokémon fans.
