Colombia is about to gain a new low-cost airline option as Frontier Airlines prepares to begin operations in the country in December 2026, opening direct connections with the United States.
The American ultra-low-cost carrier will initially connect Orlando with three major Colombian cities: Bogotá, Medellín and Cartagena. Frontier Airlines plans to offer 14 weekly flights across these routes, with the number expected to increase to 15 weekly frequencies in March 2027.
But what makes this expansion especially attractive for Colombian travelers?
Passengers arriving in Orlando will have access to connections to more than 50 destinations across the Caribbean, potentially making the city an important travel hub for future trips.
Frontier Airlines also described Colombia as a strategic market and confirmed that its arrival represents the company’s first expansion into South America.
The new routes are expected to increase competition in the Colombian aviation market while giving travelers more alternatives for reaching the United States at potentially lower fares.
For many passengers, the biggest question will be whether Frontier’s low-cost model can make international travel more affordable.
