Recently, a violent winter storm struck the northern, central, and western regions of the United States over the weekend, causing a collapse in the air travel system. So far, around 1,781 flights have been canceled and 6,645 delayed nationwide.

The most affected airports were those in Chicago, especially O’Hare International Airport and Chicago Midway International Airport, where hundreds of flights were suspended in both departures and arrivals. Other major airports across the country also experienced significant delays.

Chaos in United States skies: More than 1,700 flights canceled and 6,500 delayed due to winter storm

Snow, ice, and strong wind gusts led to massive cancellations and long waiting times, creating chaos on the roads, frustration among travelers, and additional work for authorities tasked with clearing highways and runways.

What should travelers with scheduled flights this weekend do?

They should immediately check the status of their flights, preferably through the official websites or mobile apps of their airlines, consider alternate routes or rebooking options, and stay alert to weather advisories and air traffic updates to avoid unexpected complications.
