The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame continues to enrich its legacy with legendary figures. At the 2025 induction ceremony, held this weekend in Springfield, Massachusetts, Carmelo Anthony, Dwight Howard, and Maya Moore, among others, were officially honored.

Carmelo Anthony, one of the top scorers in NBA history and a three-time Olympic gold medalist, was celebrated not only for his remarkable career but also for his pivotal role in the iconic “Redeem Team” of 2008. Dwight Howard, a defensive icon and eight-time All-Star, also earned a direct induction, something long expected given his accolades and dominance throughout his career.

On the women’s side, Maya Moore and Sue Bird made history as the first two former UConn players to enter the Hall, raising to three the total of women from the program with this distinction. Alongside them, Sylvia Fowles was also recognized, rounding out a powerful class that highlights the enduring impact of women’s basketball.

Why does the Class of 2025 deserve historic recognition?

Because it brings together generations, genders, and extraordinary achievements: athletes who redefined the game both on and off the court, shaping one of the most memorable induction classes in the Hall of Fame’s rich history.
