The company behind ChatGPT has announced an unprecedented agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) worth $38 billion over a seven-year period. Under this deal, OpenAI will gain access to hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA processors hosted on AWS’s cloud infrastructure to train and operate its most advanced artificial intelligence models.

This partnership marks a major shift away from OpenAI’s previous exclusive reliance on Microsoft as its primary cloud provider, signaling a new phase in the competitive race for AI infrastructure dominance.

A historic agreement: OpenAI signs a $38 Billion alliance with Amazon Web Services

What does this agreement mean for the future of artificial intelligence?

It means the AI race is entering a new era of massive scalability. With access to immense computing power, OpenAI will be able to build more complex, faster, and more capable models. At the same time, the deal strengthens Amazon’s position as a central player in the global tech ecosystem. However, the sheer scale of this investment also raises questions about the long-term economic sustainability of AI development at such magnitude.
