Amazon has temporarily suspended its operations with 21 Air, the cargo carrier that operated the Boeing 767 involved in the deadly crash at Miami International Airport.
The decision comes after the September 6 accident, when the Amazon Air aircraft overran the runway and struck vehicles near the airport. Five people on the ground were killed and five others were injured.
Amazon said it reviewed the circumstances surrounding the tragedy while continuing to support the investigation led by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The agency is examining several factors, including the pilots’ actions, aircraft performance, weather conditions and operational procedures.
Will Amazon permanently end its relationship with 21 Air?
Not at this time. The company has announced a pause in operations, but it has not said that the partnership has been permanently terminated.
The suspension adds pressure on 21 Air as investigators continue determining what caused the aircraft to leave the runway and collide with vehicles.
