Ford recalls more than 741,000 vehicles over parking system defect

Ford Motor Company has announced the recall of more than 741,000 vehicles in the United States after identifying a transmission-related defect that could affect the parking system and increase the risk of a vehicle rolling away. The recall impacts several Ford and Lincoln models manufactured between 2018 and 2021.

According to federal authorities, the defect could prevent the transmission from properly holding the vehicle in the “Park” position when the parking brake is not engaged. To fix the issue, Ford dealerships will provide a free software update and inspect or replace any damaged transmission components at no cost to owners.

The company reiterated that customer safety remains its highest priority and confirmed that all affected vehicles will receive the required software update and any necessary repairs at no cost to owners.
