Police say speed is suspected to be a factor in the accident.

Ponder, originally from Opa Locka, Florida, transferred to the Colorado Buffaloes after playing at Bethune-Cookman and spent the last two seasons with the team. He played in two games during the 2025 season and was preparing for another year with the Buffaloes.
