More than 210,000 INIU portable batteries, model BI-B41, have been recalled after multiple units reportedly overheated and caught fire. The recall was issued by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

According to the agency, several chargers experienced lithium-ion battery failures that caused at least 11 fires, three minor burn injuries, and more than US$380,000 in property damage.

The affected devices, sold on Amazon between August 2021 and April 2022, feature a black or blue casing with the INIU logo and an LED paw-shaped indicator. Only units with serial numbers 000G21, 000H21, 000I21, or 000L21 are included in the recall.

Authorities recommend stopping their use immediately, avoiding disposal in regular trash, and checking the manufacturer’s official website to confirm the serial number and request a full refund.

What should users do if they own an INIU battery?

If your battery matches any of the affected serial numbers, the correct action is to stop using it right away and begin the refund process. If it does not, the device is not part of the recall.
