The air travel crisis in the United States continues to escalate following the partial shutdown of the federal government, disrupting dozens of airports across the country. According to the latest reports, more than 40 airports are experiencing cancellations and significant delays due to staff shortages in key areas such as air traffic control and airport security.

Among the most affected airports are Los Angeles (LAX), Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Atlanta (ATL), New York JFK, and Dallas Fort Worth (DFW), where hundreds of flights have been suspended or rescheduled in recent hours. Airlines have urged travelers to check their flight status before heading to the airport, as new disruptions are expected throughout the week.

Why are so many flights suddenly being canceled?

Because the government shutdown has left thousands of federal employees, including personnel from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), working without pay. This situation has forced authorities to reduce flight operations in order to maintain safety standards across the national airspace.

Experts warn that if the shutdown continues, the number of cancellations could rise sharply in the coming days, especially ahead of the busy holiday travel season, potentially affecting millions of passengers nationwide.
