Today, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company will end production of the Model S and Model X, two of its most iconic electric vehicles, starting in 2026. The decision marks a major turning point for Tesla as it redirects its efforts toward artificial intelligence, autonomy, and robotics.

During a recent company update, Musk explained the move by stating: “We are reallocating our resources toward Optimus and artificial intelligence. This is where Tesla’s future truly lies.” The production lines previously used for these luxury models will now support the development of the company’s humanoid robot Optimus, a project Musk has described as transformational.

Launched in 2012 and 2015 respectively, the Model S and Model X played a key role in establishing Tesla as a global leader in electric vehicles. Despite ending production, Tesla confirmed it will continue to offer service, parts, and software support for current owners.
