Star pitcher Tarik Skubal will not return to the mound for Team USA in the current 2026 World Baseball Classic, after confirming that he would only make one appearance during the tournament. The decision is mainly due to his plan to continue his spring training preparation with the Detroit Tigers ahead of the upcoming Major League Baseball season.

Skubal delivered a strong performance in his only outing in the tournament, helping his team secure a 9–1 victory over Great Britain while showcasing his impressive pitching ability. However, it had already been agreed that he would make just one start in order to avoid disrupting his training routine before the MLB season begins.

The pitcher admitted that leaving the tournament was a difficult decision, especially after experiencing what it means to represent his country and play alongside his Team USA teammates. Even so, he chose to follow the plan set with his organization.

Meanwhile, the United States team will continue its journey in the World Baseball Classic with other pitchers in the rotation as they aim to advance further in the international tournament.

Why will Tarik Skubal not pitch again in the World Baseball Classic?

Because he had already planned to make only one start before returning to spring training with the Detroit Tigers to prepare for the MLB season.
