The jury deliberating the case of Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of killing her three children in Massachusetts in 2023, ended the week without reaching a verdict. The 12 jurors deliberated for more than 10 hours between Thursday and Friday before being sent home for the weekend.
Clancy, 36, acknowledges causing the deaths of her children, but her defense argues that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time and therefore could not be held criminally responsible. Prosecutors, however, contend that she knew what she was doing and that the killings were planned.
During deliberations, jurors requested to take a closer look at a knife Clancy used during her suicide attempt and the medication bottles found at the scene.
When will deliberations continue?
The jury will return to court on Monday, August 31, to continue reviewing the evidence and decide among the different options outlined by the judge.
The case has drawn significant attention across the United States and has also reignited the debate over maternal mental health and the treatment of postpartum disorders.
