A terrifying scene caused shock at Charlotte Airport, North Carolina, when technicians discovered the lifeless body of a person inside the landing gear compartment of an American Airlines plane that had arrived from Europe.

The discovery took place around 9 a.m. during maintenance work, when the aircraft was inspected after its transatlantic flight. According to local police, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene, and homicide detectives, along with forensic staff, immediately launched an investigation.

American Airlines reported that it is fully cooperating with the authorities, while airport officials expressed their condolences and assured that operations continue as normal. So far, neither the identity nor the nationality of the deceased has been revealed, nor how the person managed to reach the aircraft.

Was the individual attempting to travel as a stowaway?

Authorities believe so. The person is suspected to have tried to hide inside the landing gear compartment but could not survive the extreme conditions of the flight.
