Today, American Airlines has resumed commercial flights between the United States and Venezuela after seven years of suspension, marking a historic moment for thousands of travelers. The first flight departed from Miami bound for Caracas and represents the return of a long-awaited connection for families, business travelers, and tourists.
The airline will initially operate one daily flight with regional aircraft and plans to add a second frequency in May. Before the suspension in 2019, American Airlines was one of the U.S. carriers with the strongest presence in Venezuela.
The return is also seen as a sign of improving bilateral relations and new economic opportunities between both countries. For many passengers, it means being able to travel directly again without long layovers in other destinations.
Why is this return so important?
Because it reduces travel times, facilitates family reunions, and reactivates commercial connections between both markets.
Now the big question arises: will this be only the beginning of a much larger air reopening for Venezuela?
