The major company Amazon, through its division Amazon Web Services (AWS), has introduced its new artificial intelligence chip, called Trainium 3, with which it seeks to compete directly against Nvidia, the leading company in the creation and sale of AI processors.

According to the tech giant, servers equipped with Trainium 3 offer performance up to 4.4 times higher than the previous generation, while significantly reducing energy consumption. AWS also revealed that it is already working on the next version, Trainium 4, which will be compatible with Nvidia’s interconnection technology, making its adoption easier by maintaining interoperability with existing ecosystems.

This move strengthens Amazon’s push to gain ground in the artificial intelligence market and reduce its dependence on external chip suppliers, while other major tech companies like Google and Microsoft are also developing their own solutions.

Can the company truly take Nvidia’s leadership in AI chips?

Possibly yes, especially if it manages to demonstrate clear advantages in performance, cost, and energy efficiency. However, success will also depend on developer adoption and compatibility with already established technologies.
