After several hours of worldwide disruption, Amazon confirmed that the massive outage affecting its cloud services, AWS or Amazon Web Services, was caused by a software error in one of the main global data management systems. The issue triggered a chain reaction that temporarily shut down platforms used by millions of people and businesses around the world.

According to the tech giant, the failure occurred during a routine update that unexpectedly overloaded several regional servers, interrupting communication between key components. Among the affected services were Spotify, Slack, and Netflix, as well as numerous banks and e-commerce platforms that rely on AWS infrastructure.
