Recently, Costco announced the imminent recall of a popular product found in all of its supermarkets across the United States, which has gone viral on social media over the past few months. The product in question is the Dubai-Style Chocolate from the brand Rolling Pin.

What is the reason for this unexpected recall?

The major retailer revealed that it was due to an allergen labeling error in which “wheat” was not properly listed, posing a serious risk for people allergic to this ingredient. The current Rolling Pin packaging only lists “gluten” as an allergen, completely omitting “wheat.”

According to the Mayo Clinic, this could be dangerous since, in some people, a wheat allergy can trigger a potentially life-threatening reaction known as anaphylaxis. This reaction may cause throat tightness, swelling, chest pain, and severe difficulty breathing.

Some details of the recall

The Costco products affected by the recall are those sold in all the chain’s supermarkets between May 1 and August 29, 2025. Therefore, if you did not purchase them during these dates, or if someone in your household is allergic to gluten or wheat, do not consume the product and warn others who may have purchased it.

Costco is also offering customers the option to return the product for a full refund.
