Vacation plans disrupted: Royal Caribbean cancels dozens of cruises departing from Miami for summer 2027

1 Min Read

Cruise company Royal Caribbean surprised thousands of travelers after canceling dozens of cruises scheduled to depart from Miami during the summer of 2027. The trips were planned aboard the ship Freedom of the Seas between May and September, with popular Caribbean destinations such as Bahamas, Aruba, and Curaçao.

According to reports, the company sent emails to passengers explaining that the decision is part of a schedule reorganization and operational adjustments. As a result, the ship will be relocated to Europe to operate in the United Kingdom and Ireland markets during that season.

To compensate affected travelers, the company is offering full refunds, future cruise credits, or the option to switch to other sailings departing from Miami on different ships in its fleet.

Although these types of cancellations are not very common, industry experts say cruise lines often adjust routes based on demand and operational logistics.

What can passengers do if their cruise was canceled?

They can request a full refund, accept a future cruise credit, or rebook on another available trip within the company’s fleet.
