Toyota Motor Corporation announced a safety recall of approximately 162,000 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid pickup trucks sold in the United States due to a defect in the multimedia display screens that could affect visibility while reversing.

According to Toyota, in some cases the screens may freeze on a camera view or go completely dark, preventing drivers from seeing the rearview camera image when backing up. This issue could fail to meet federal vehicle safety standards and increase the risk of accidents during reverse maneuvers.

The recall mainly affects 2024 and 2025 models, and owners are being notified to schedule a free software update at authorized dealerships to fix the problem.

Toyota stated that no accidents or injuries linked directly to this defect have been reported so far, but emphasized that the preventive action aims to ensure the safety of drivers and pedestrians.

What should affected owners do?

They should check whether their vehicle is included in the recall, wait for the official notification, and schedule the free software update at an authorized Toyota dealership before the end of March 2026.
