A new wave of Russian air and drone attacks on Ukraine has left at least one person dead and around 23 injured, according to Ukrainian authorities. The strikes hit areas including Kyiv and Kharkiv, also damaging critical infrastructure and leaving hundreds of thousands without electricity or heating during freezing winter temperatures.
The offensive occurred while representatives from Ukraine, Russia, and the United States were holding peace negotiations in Abu Dhabi, a timing that Kyiv described as an attempt to undermine diplomatic efforts. Ukrainian officials reported that both residential buildings and essential energy facilities were affected.
This pattern has raised international concern, as it coincides with renewed attempts to revive talks aimed at ending nearly four years of conflict. Meanwhile, the humanitarian impact continues to worsen, with power outages and heating disruptions affecting civilians across several regions.
