A new episode of tension erupted in the Middle East after the United States Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq, was targeted by several rockets in the heavily fortified Green Zone, an area where diplomatic missions and key government buildings are located.
According to Iraqi security sources, the embassy’s air defense system intercepted the projectiles, preventing the attack from causing major damage or casualties. Images circulating on social media showed a column of smoke near the diplomatic area, although some of them have not been officially verified.

The incident comes amid growing regional tensions related to the conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which has led to attacks against facilities and bases linked to Washington across different parts of the Middle East.
Local authorities have launched an investigation to determine who was responsible for the attack, while security measures around Baghdad’s diplomatic zone have been reinforced.
Were there any victims in the attack on the embassy?
So far, no deaths or injuries have been reported, as the defense system intercepted the rockets before they could hit the diplomatic complex.
