A few hours ago, the well-known retail chain Costco announced the immediate recall of its popular Kirkland Signature Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG champagne after several consumers reported that some bottles were spontaneously breaking, posing a potential injury risk.

The product, sold in various Costco stores across the United States and Puerto Rico, was pulled from shelves as a precaution, according to the company. While no serious injuries have been reported, Costco urged customers who purchased the champagne not to open or handle the bottles and to return them to any store for a full refund.

The affected batch corresponds to 750 ml bottles with specific production dates currently being tracked by health authorities. This voluntary recall aims to prevent accidents caused by abnormal internal pressure in some units.

Should consumers be concerned about other similar products?

For now, authorities have clarified that only this specific batch of Kirkland champagne is affected, and there is no evidence of issues with other wines or beverages under the same brand.
