New York Knicks fans were surprised by unexpectedly high ticket prices for the upcoming 2026-27 NBA season, forcing the team to temporarily suspend individual ticket sales.
Tickets for the Knicks’ season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers on October 20 were initially listed at more than $1,000, with the cheapest ticket reportedly reaching $1,251 and briefly climbing to $1,408 during an earlier presale.

Why did the Knicks charge such high prices?
According to Madison Square Garden Sports, the unusual prices resulted from an internal pricing error rather than an intentional increase of that magnitude. The organization said it would correct the prices and return to last season’s levels with an average increase of about 12%.
Fans who purchased tickets at the incorrect prices will receive refunds for the difference. Sales of individual tickets will resume once the corrected prices are available.
The situation comes after the Knicks’ 2025-26 championship season, which increased interest in seeing the team at Madison Square Garden.
