For many, Gabrielle Henry, Jamaica’s representative at Miss Universe 2025, is currently hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after a painful fall from the stage during the preliminary evening gown competition.
According to organizers and family members, the fall caused her a cranial trauma and several lacerations. Although she did not sustain serious bone fractures, doctors have determined that she must remain in the ICU for at least a full week, seven days, to ensure constant monitoring and specialized care.
Gabrielle’s sister, well known physician Phylicia Henry-Samuels, stated that “Gabby is not as well as we had hoped, but the hospital continues to treat her appropriately.” The Miss Universe Jamaica organization has requested prayers, respect, and privacy for the family, and has urged people to avoid spreading misinformation on social media.
Why does Gabrielle need to stay several days in the ICU despite not having broken bones?
Because even without fractures, doctors prefer to keep her under close and continuous observation to detect any possible complications from the head injury, as cranial trauma can produce effects that don’t appear immediately.
