In a new chapter of his unmatched career, LeBron James was selected as a reserve for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, extending his record to 22 consecutive All-Star appearances, the most in league history.

Despite not being named a starter for the first time in more than two decades, partly due to injuries and a season with fewer games played, NBA coaches chose him as one of the reserves for the event, which will take place on February 15 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.

This year’s All-Star Game will feature a brand-new “USA vs. The World” format, where three teams will compete in a round-robin mini-tournament before the final. Alongside James, stars such as Kevin Durant, Luka Dončić, and Nikola Jokić are also part of the league’s selection.

James’ selection as a reserve highlights the longevity and consistency of a career that has transcended generations and remains relevant at 41 years old.

What does this selection mean for LeBron?

It marks another historic record and reinforces his status as a living NBA legend, with more All-Star appearances than any other player.
