Recently, team Italy delivered one of the biggest surprises of the 2026 World Baseball Classic by defeating the United States 8–6 in an exciting game played in Houston. The European team controlled most of the matchup thanks to a powerful offensive performance that allowed them to build an 8–0 lead in the early innings.

Home runs from Kyle Teel, Sam Antonacci, and Jac Caglianone made the difference for Italy, while pitcher Michael Lorenzen delivered a solid performance on the mound.
