A few days ago, Gervonta Davis shook the boxing world with an unexpected statement: after his fight against the controversial boxer and YouTuber Jake Paul, he plans to retire. On his private social media, the ‘Tank’ wrote:

“Boxing is dead… I am retiring in 8 weeks.”

Although the announcement caused surprise, it is not the first time Davis has hinted at the end of his professional career. In the past, he had already expressed dissatisfaction with the direction of the sport and the lack of loyalty among boxers. This planned retirement would mark the end of an undefeated run, as he currently holds an immaculate record with numerous knockouts against his rivals.

Is this truly a definitive decision, or just a tactical move before his fight?

While some interpret his post as the conclusion of a remarkable legacy, others believe it could be a temporary strategy. A lucrative deal with Jake Paul might provide Davis with a grand finale and a memorable exit from the sport.
