Recently, FIFA has formally requested detailed security reports from Mexico following recent violent incidents reported in several regions of the country, particularly in Guadalajara (Jalisco), one of the official host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to the report, the documents were sent from FIFA’s Mexico office to its headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, allowing the governing body to directly assess how security preparations are being handled ahead of the tournament.

Sources indicate that FIFA aims to review the evolution of security conditions across multiple Mexican states and evaluate whether current strategies are sufficient to protect teams, fans, and international visitors during the World Cup.

So far, Mexico’s federal government has stated that there are no risks threatening the country’s role as a host, including matches scheduled in Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Why did FIFA request these reports?

To evaluate safety conditions in key host cities and ensure that adequate guarantees are in place for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
