Recent studies reveal that many people between the ages of 50 and 80, part of Generation X, show signs of addiction to ultra-processed foods, difficulty reducing consumption, intense cravings, and even some withdrawal-like symptoms. Although this phenomenon is not yet formally recognized in medical literature, research points to its connection with cognitive decline, depression, and metabolic disorders common in today’s society.

Experts suggest that this challenge is not only individual but also systemic, as we live in an environment where ultra-processed foods are designed to seduce our brains.

The hidden enemy of generation X: Addiction to ultra-processed foods

Can someone really become addicted to industrialized food?

Absolutely yes. Although the topic is still debated, certain studies indicate that around 13% of adults between 50 and 80 years old meet the criteria for addiction to these products.

The good news is that there is a solution. With dietary changes, nutritional education, and policies that help limit consumption, it is possible to rebuild a healthier relationship with food.
