In the early hours of Sunday, August 17, 2025, a violent shooting shook Brooklyn’s nightlife when several armed men opened fire inside Taste of the City Lounge, a tea lounge located in Crown Heights. The attack took place around 3:30 a.m., during a busy moment at the venue. The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that three men, aged 27, 35, and another whose age has not yet been confirmed, died at the scene. Eight others (five men and three women, between 27 and 61 years old) were injured, but are not in life-threatening condition.
Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that multiple shooters were involved. Authorities recovered at least 36 shell casings at the scene, along with one firearm found nearby. Despite the fact that 2025 has shown a record decline in gun-related incidents across New York City, this episode stands out as a tragic exception. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and collecting witness statements, but no arrests have been made so far.
Have the suspects been arrested?
So far, no suspects have been taken into custody. The NYPD continues its investigation, analyzing security footage and gathering testimonies in order to identify those responsible.
